I joined CrossFit a little more than three years ago and it has been the best decision of my life. I have always been an athlete, from swimming, volleyball, basketball, softball and powerlifting, but college changed a lot of that for me. As I moved to Beaumont in 2014, I started getting into a little routine at a local gym, but it wasn’t feeding my need, just checking a box. I was always intimidated to step into the “local box” because I hadn’t touched a barbell in what seemed like ages and I had more fat rolls than those CrossFit girls had abs. Little did I know that swallowing my pride and facing my fears were not only going to be an enormously positive step for me that day but also a reoccurring theme in my life from there on out.
Since joining, I have changed my life physically, mentally and emotionally, being the healthiest and fittest I have been in my entire 30 years of existence; I have crushed goals that were once just dreams that I laughed about, like a 150lb clean & jerk and being able to do not one but multiple pull-ups! But most importantly I have met, connected and grew with some of the best people in the world, people that will give you the shirt off their back, people that I’m proud to call my friends. These changes have helped me develop into the person I am today, and I’m excited and eager to start getting my hands dirty as a CrossFit Coach!
