 WOD 1/18/12

Deadlift 10-10-7-7

“Dead Man’s Row”

2K Row

Max Unbroken Deadlifts (275/185)

Within 20 seconds of finishing the row you must pick up the bar and begin going for max reps on the deadlift. Once you rest the bar on the ground you are done with the deadlifts. You must touch and go at the bottom but you can rest with the bar at the top. Your score is your row time minus 5 seconds for each deadlift completed.

Everyone should pick a deadlift weight they can lift at least 5 times. And that bar is a lot heavier once you get off the row

Oh holy crap. Well, here’s my “do something that makes you uncomfortable every day”. See you at 6.

Also, what are your thoughts on primal vs. paleo? The only difference I see is that primal allows some limited dairy, while paleo is alot more fruit friendly. But I may not have read enough. We’ve been doing paleo for about 4 weeks now, and I feel a huge difference.

This wod looks interesting. Good luck with a sub 7 time. I’ve never rowed more than 500m at one time. . . this is going to be tough.

9:16. Only got 4 155# dead lifts . Row was under 10 which is better than I expected.
Appreciate the absence of running and pull ups!

Just keep your pace under 1:45 per 500m. I hit 7:03 when I tried to maintain a 1:45 and then hit 6:58 when trying to keep a 1:44 pace. Pacing yourself helps a lot. Just fighting through the 1000-1300 mark is the tough part.

I did PR my deadlift when we did this at that Louisana competition, but sheesh…all that rowing!!

I’m going to try and keep that 1:45 per 500m pace, but I’ve never rowed more than 500. The day we did 4 x 500m row. . . a 1:40 pace seemed really comfortable, but I don’t know about 2k.

Garret you are a monster. You can row a sub 7 2K. The key is to fight through the quad burn from the 1000-1500 meter mark. Nice work Jeremy. It looks like I’m now shooting for a 6:57. 😉

I totally agree with you about fighting through that quad burn from the 1000-1500 mark. That is the worst part by far. I would rather do a 2K or a 5K row any day instead of a 500m sprint.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Jason. I’ll try my best. If I do happen to row a sub 7, I don’t know what those deadlifts are going to look like.lol. Not looking forward to the aforementioned “quad burn,” but that’s probably the freshest thing on me right now. My traps are toast!
