Yes! I love cleans!!! Also I reallly want an answer to the potato thing…can I really eat potatoes?!
January 16th, 2012 - 04:21
And why is a sweet potato paleo but others are not?
January 16th, 2012 - 08:24
So from what I’ve read, sweet potatoes do not contain the same anti-nutrients that regular potatoes do and are recommended especially for post workout consumption, at least according to Dr. Cordain and Robb Wolf. BUT, they are a very high glycemic index food and because of that aren’t recommended for people trying to loose weight or for people trying to control their glucose levels (ex: diabetics) since it breaks down quickly and causes a rapid release of glucose into the bloodstream.
Also, it depends on who you ask. Some people are heck no to the potato thing and some say it’s okie doke. I think if you can tolerate it it’s fine.
Has anyone else read any different reasons?
January 16th, 2012 - 08:37
Stephanie, that is the same that I have read on numerous Paleo sites. My concern would be the high glycemic index resulting in an insulin spike causing increased fat stores as well as the diabetic implications long term. I like them, but only eat them on occasion….of course my metabolism isn’t near what Erin’s is either.

Let’s feed Erin potatoes to see if it will make her fat. (Good thing you’re such a sweetheart, Erin, or some of us would HATE you!)

185# (not feelin it heavy today)
WOD in 8:57 @ 145#
January 16th, 2012 - 19:05
135 lb. HPC, but 95 lbs. on the rep. 8:09. Tried to do T2B at first, but had to revert to Knees to Elbow. Was catching up to Jeremy on the last 200 m sprint, but I made the mistake at the turnaround of telling him I was going to pass him. Of course, he sped up and beat me by a few seconds. Lesson learned to keep my mouth shut next time and just pass him. He had heavier weight anyway. Need to get stronger.
January 16th, 2012 - 19:50
113 on the rounds of 2. Can’t figure out that grip release and re-grip thing but I will.

I’m not sure what took me longer, the running or the toes to bar.
Erin, I may need to take your approach on the toes to bar. I can’t get that kip consistently.
January 16th, 2012 - 22:07
93#s on the hang cleans.
10:50 63#s HC, knee ups
January 16th, 2012 - 23:39
Erin- oatmeal comes from oats, which is a grain. Potatoes are technically paleo because they are a starch. However, paleo calls for “very little starch.” Def don’t eat them if you are trying to lose weight. If you eat well all the time, a tater every now and then is fine. If you eat well only some of the time, a tater would be a better “cheat” than grains.
