Having never been an "athlete" I am finding that the coaching is the greatest motivator. Y'all scale me to the point that I am safe and can have some success, but never to the point I am not pushed. I have done stuff I NEVER dreamed I would do! I am SOLD on CF and if you have any other old ladies who are hesitant, I'd be happy to talk to them!

Great post, Neal. The competitive energy of the box is infectious. And I agree that the other members that you get to workout with are a big part of the benefits of Crossfit. No matter what your fitness level may be, there always seems to be a lot of respect for the effort, not just the final score. You can finish a WOD dead last (which I often do), and still leave the box feeling like a super hero just for getting through it, thanks to all of the support you get from the coaches and other members. With everyone backing you up, it pushes you to do better – so that maybe you can finish a little earlier and return the favor some day.
